fred mcned

Sometimes at work ms. princess asks me which boys I like. I avoid this question for a number of reasons, one of them being to avoid the k-i-s-s-i-n-g song which is ever popular... even though kissing/fiances/wedding talk makes her pretend to vomit.

She then proceeds to ask me a lot of questions about why/if/when I'm going to get married. I somehow told her she could pick someone out for me. I'm not sure how that got out of my mouth.

She returned from the basement with Fred McNed.

While she was at school I wrote her a note saying that while I appreciated her kindness, after hanging out with Fred I decided that he was not the one for me. He sat around all day and did nothing, and said nothing. I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer.

heads up

If you are headed downtown with a friend and you aren't feeling well, and you stop at Wal-Greens for some sicky treats (airborne, vitamin C, sprite, kleenex) and you decide to take the airborne quick before you get to the Art Institute please heed this warning:

If you are going to put the airborne in your sprite, you should drink a LOT of it before dropping it in. Just drinking a little of the sprite will not suffice. The sprite will overflow onto the street and you will look like a crazy person. People might walk by and say "put a mento in there, huh?" To which you will give them a crazy look and end up asking questions like: "do we look like boys? in junior high?"
(Quote taken from an email from Lynn Lanier)

It will make the day better when you have to squeeze through a tiny Caribou full of the people that just saw your pop exploding everywhere to get some napkins, that have the saying "It's going to be a very long day" on them.

It was actually quite a marvelous day. The exploding pop probably added to the excitement. I did apologize to the streets of Chicago. Although I do know that worse has happened, like when I was walking downtown with some friends and the guy in front of us veered to the side and paused for a quick urniation.

valentines

I love Valentine's Day. Any excuse to make cute things, eat sweets, encourage and love people is great.

All day on Wednesday I was extremely excited for Valentine's day, and I was not disappointed.

Tovah was free since her hubby was busy with his duties as a sasquatch. We made a date, and invited some people. We started with an amazing dinner made by Tovah (if I ever say Tovah made us a meal.. you can from now on assume that it was amazing) served with wine. We then had cupcakes, chocolate fondue, and Valentine's goody bags. I loved it all. The food, the company, the laughs, the conversation, and ending with a chick flick. All. It will be hard to beat.

letters!

I really can not tell you how much I love this girl! Amazing.

There isn't anything too personal on this letter so I had to post it. It seems as though it probably took an amount of work. I might get it made poster size and then hang it on my wall.. or just blog about it.

excursion

I decided to go on a little excursion this morning. It's snowing a lot, in case you live in some sunny place like California.

We were in dire need of some items that really couldn't be put off. I had to go support those nice grandmotherly ladies that put those soft stiches in our "bath tissue" at the local Jewel.

I didn't feel like driving so I went for a walk in my (sweet) boots. I stopped at Harris Bank to give an extra chunk of cash towards my loan. The lady asked if I wanted to have a better interest rate. Do people turn that down?? After telling her all of my information again after the power went out, I continued on my way to Jewel.

I bougt a reusable grocery sack. My Jewel has always given a LOT of plastic bags (about one per every 2 items) and it drives me bonkers. I thought this would help. Yet I think it defeats the purpose of buying a reusable grocery sack when Jewel puts your 12 items in 4 seperate plastic sacks, to put into the reusable one. Leaving only 4 of my items alone in the reusable.

I was happy to be home to change into dry clothes but first I handed my camera to Jody to document wet/ridiculous I looked. Instead, Jody starts looking at the pictures on my camera as I stand there dripping and holding my bags...

I'd say it was pretty eventful! Until I tried to read and fell asleep. I'm old.

my place

I am reading a book written by the President of International Justice Mission, Gary Haugen. I'd tell you about IJM, but they are too interesting/amazing. You can check out who they are. My friend Andrew who blogged about it in November, let me borrow the book. If you want to know about the book, read Andrew's blog. I'm not finished yet but the book is making me question things. Which is good, but also really frustrating.

I'm having trouble determining what it means for me to live my life for God. Does it mean leaving everything? Staying? Going back to school? Doing what I am now?

I want the answers, but I think God wants my trust. Yet I am always afraid (stupid worry) that my ears aren't open or that I am missing His answer.

Today I was thinking that no matter what we do, we are to glorify God through it or to do it as to God. I was doing laundry at the time, which lead me to think about washing Jesus' PJ's. I know that isn't what the verse means but, my imagination is pretty active. We've been through this.

I don't want to doubt, delay, or adapt His answer. I also don't want to make it up.

I added these because they fit, I think. They're good. He's good.

Phillipians 2:14-18
14Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe 16as you hold out the word of life—in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing. 17But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14
13Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. 14Do everything in love.

nkotb... again

So after posting the little blurb about some kids that are coming back to the block, my mom apparently found this book (but not my birth certificate) in the safe. Or maybe it was my baby book or something. Anyway, I wanted to share with you my first grade skills (it could have been second but I am going to stick with first since the book is pretty poor).

I'm going to a concert tomorrow night, so I'm thinking about making another concert book to see if my skills have made any progress.
