Phineas and Ferb
Hypochondria
Young Adult fiction and Children's books

Snail mail

My Car Quirks.

Things I've forgotten about my car and have recently remembered:

👉The keyless entry used to work.
👉That it isn't normal to have automatic locks and to ask people to please manually lock their door because if you use the automatic locks inside the car then use your key to open the car (because the keyless entry doesn't work) the car alarm will go off.
👉There is a little tricky trick to it but it is difficult to explain and everyone has to get out of the car while I'm in the car but that situation doesn't happen naturally and it makes for awkward moments.
👉I have two cigarette lighters. I just can't use the one.
👉That the check engine light is on.
👉That having a check engine light on alarms people.
👉That I used to just pay for suggested repairs without having the part/it's function/what'll happen if I don't explained to me by someone who doesn't seem like a creepy jerk.

Things I might get to forget as well:
👉Not all people get to give their drivers side headlight a little love-knock before it'll come on.

I hope my mom doesn't still read this blog...

Quote

Tying to capture the might and majesty and power and beauty of God with Microsoft Word is like trying to capture the sheer terror of a hurricane with crayons on a piece of paper. John Acuff

I don't remember where or how I ran into this quote but I very much appreciate it. I hope you do, too. All four of you.

shamrock shake monthS

Within approximately five minutes near the time of 4:30 on February 3rd, 2013, I received messages from two friends stating that shamrock shakes were back. This tells me that a. I know good people 2. I may have a problem with the level of my love/amount I talk about/time I spend carrying around shamrock shakes if people see advertisements (please read in the British pronouncement) and think of me.

That said, pretty proud I waited almost a week before I had my first one on the night of February 8 after being smooshed in a Cube on a roadtrip to Wisconsin with four adults and two dogs.

(Last night I received a third text from a third friend, also stating the arrival of the shamrock shake. See, I know good people. And have an issue. That I've mentioned to my husband as it may/will affect the budget.)

popcorn. yum.

After being banished to the room (I wanted to watch Downton Abbey and hubs wanted to watch X-files) he came in with a big bowl of popcorn.

Me: How did you know I wanted popcorn?!
Hubs: I thought "What does Krista want all. of. the. time?"

Touché. And super exciting.

non-professional hair.

Today I had to choose my non-professional hairstyle.  I had a choice between having static hair or messy bun.  I went with messy bun.

old person plans.

There was a commercial on for Friendship Village. Afterward, husband turned to me and asked "can we move to a retirement village in Florida when we get to that part of our lives?"

We got so excited. We are anticipating that it will be like camp/college all over again. Living in community with friends and other people cooking and doing the dishes.  If you're reading this and we like each other, please plan accordingly because A and I will want you to be there, too.

Speaking of living in community, the TWO houses in front if our house (our house is back from the road) are for sale. So you could make our dreams come true now. Message me for details.

See?  College people dressing like old people. Which means the retirement village is meant. to. be.

lie.

This is an outrageous lie, words with friends. Outrageous.

On the plus side, I figured out today (for this reason) how to take a screenshot with my iPhone (so easy).

AND, I am extremely proud of myself for this joke.

I know I'm a nerd.

late night.

Well as life goes it is 11:05 pm right now. I just got home from being a substitute for my mother in law's Bunko group. It was inspiring. How neat that this group of neighbors has been getting together every month since 1970 with a system for snacks and prizes and a flow of comfort and support. It was lovely to be a part of.

But I did dart my eyes at the clock a couple times.

not sleepy.

I'm in bed. Lying down. Next to the hubby, but not sleeping. I'm thinking about pretty much everything and about how dreams are weird. I had a dream Aaron and I had a different wedding. In the dream hubs planned the reception and did a (very) poor job. In real life he booked an 80's band and people loved it. I suppose I don't have to go to bed the same time as him but I like doing things together, so I usually do. Plus, somehow being married to a teacher makes me think 8:00 is a normal bedtime for grown ups. When we are out with his parents or other people and its 9:00 and I'm darting glances at the clock between yawns I start to rethink things. But then I think about how much I love sleeping and we are back to 8:00 tuck-in. Speaking of tuck-ins, I can demand those, right?
